This qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable him/her to effectively perform supervision of security in a particular organization. The units of competency include supervising physical security, coordinating people security and safety, controlling institutional crime , performing security investigation, conducting security intelligence, coordinating security emergencies and coordinating security enforcement and compliance. The total duration of the course for an average trainee is 2400 hours including 480 hours (12 weeks) of field attachment.

Entry Requirements

An individual entering this course should have any of the following minimum requirements:

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (minus)

Or

  1. Certificate Level 5 in a related course

Or

  1. Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQADistance

Duration :

4 semesters and 12 weeks field attachment

Field attachment

An individual enrolled in this course will undergo a field attachment for a period of 12 weeks in a security management firm/organization.

Assessment:

The course will be assessed at two levels:

Internal assessment: conducted continuously by the trainer (internal assessor) who is monitored by an accredited internal verifier.

External assessment: conducted by an accredited external assessor who is monitored by an accredited external verifier.

The assessors and verifiers are accredited by TVET CDACC which also coordinates external assessment.

Certification

To be awarded diploma in security management , an individual must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency.

These certificates will be awarded by TVET CDACC in conjunction with Pan-African Shield College Africa.
